Swenam College is one of the very few private institutions that offers a range of awards and scholarships to both domestic and international students. New students applying to any program at Swenam College can apply for entrance awards, scholarships, and grants.
Existing students at the college may also be eligible to apply for continuing student awards. Award recipients are expected to serve as representatives for Swenam College and take part in outreach and alumni engagement activities. All awards will be disbursed in the form of a tuition credit. Distance education: 100% hours of instruction, excluding work experience hours, if applicable, delivered remotely from a BC location.
- Full-time: the total duration of this program is 13 weeks.
- Part-time: the total duration of this program is 18 weeks.
General Admission Requirements
- This program is suitable for a diverse range of applicants, whether or not they have prior experience in dental reception or, more broadly, healthcare administration.
- Criminal Record Check Required.
English Language Proficiency Admission Requirements is one of the following:
- Completed at least four years of secondary or post-secondary education conducted in English
- Completed a four-year undergraduate degree or a graduate degree at a recognized university where English is the medium of instruction.
- IELTS 6 overall, with no part less than 5.5
- TOEFL IBT 80 overall (Reading: 20, Listening: 20, Writing: 20, Speaking: 20)
- Duolingo English Test overall 115, video and writing sample should also demonstrate a strong command of English language. DET will only be accepted from students in countries where no other English proficiency test is available.
- Successful completion of Advanced Dynamic English Proficiency program at Swenam college.
Oral Anatomy and Pathology
This course, moreover, highlights the major nerves and blood vessels in the oral and facial regions and explores the function and significance of the salivary glands and their implications for dental procedures.
Dental Reception: Comprehensive Skill Development
This course places significant emphasis on problem-solving skills, teaching participants strategies and techniques for managing and resolving conflicts constructively.
Dental Practice: Management & Administration
At the end of the course, participants are able to manage all aspects of a dental clinic, from patient communication and records management to marketing through the implementation of software tools like Tracker and Dentrix. Graduates are prepared to contribute effectively to a high-performing dental practice.
Dental Practice: Business & Financial Management
This course provides students with a realistic insight into their future careers as Dental Receptionist, equipping them with a solid foundation to enhance their skills and expertise in subsequent program courses. By providing a solid foundation in areas such as financial principles, revenue management, and expense control, students are well-equipped to handle the financial responsibilities they encounter in their career.
Dental Practice: Insurance Billing and Claims Management
To emphasize the importance of dental insurance, this course begins with providing students with an introductory overview of dental insurance history and functionality; they identify how dental insurance assists individuals to manage the costs of dental care and treatments through cost savings, preventive services access, and major dental procedures coverage.
Dental Office Health: Infection Control and Hazards
This course is considered to equip participants with the knowledge and techniques needed to promptly recognize, assess, and effectively manage a spectrum of emergencies that can occur in dental clinics and related healthcare environments.
Canadian Workplace Success: Professionalism and Cultural Awareness
The Canadian Career Development course aims to provide students with fundamental skills and knowledge crucial for achieving success in academic and professional contexts.
Capstone Project
This culminating course is designed to integrate and apply the knowledge acquired in the Dental Office Administration and Management program within a practical setting. Students will have the opportunity to undertake a hands-on internship or work placement or conduct a detailed research project.

This is a 40 hours course
